General FAQs

It’s my first time booking with you. What can I expect in a session?

I ask all new clients to book a 60-minute customized private session. These sessions go above and beyond typical animal communication and mediumship sessions because they're tailored to meet your specific needs.

We’ll always begin with animal communication, and depending on your needs, we can also include Reiki and/or guided exercises. The goal is to help you reach new levels of understanding and healing with your animal companions, whether they have passed or are still alive.

When you book an appointment online, you’ll fill out a form that will ask you for a bit of information to help me prepare for and tailor the session. You can also send pictures of your animals, but that’s optional.

When it’s time for the session, we’ll hop on the phone or Zoom (your choice) and quickly confirm your intentions before getting into the communication part. We'll set the intention that you'll retain exactly what's needed, but I can also record it, or you can take notes if you'd like.

Then, I’ll connect with the animals and facilitate a conversation between you. I let animals lead the conversation. Often, they’ll start by telling me about their personality and other things that let you know that it’s actually them I’m connecting with. They’ll have me relay whatever they’d like you to know before answering your specific questions for them.

You’re welcome to interject at any time with questions or requests for clarifications. It’s a conversation, after all! And if you’re feeling overwhelmed or need a break, you’re welcome to speak up and do that, as well.

In some cases, especially with multiple animals, we'll continue this communication for the whole session.

But depending on your animal’s needs, I may also recommend doing Reiki for the second half of the session—and you can even join the animal and receive Reiki too, if you’d like. You have the option of hanging up and/or turning off your camera while I channel healing Reiki energy to your animal (and to you if you want to join).

Or, I may offer to guide you through exercises that might help support you in whatever you and your animal(s) are going through (for instance, guiding you through connecting witn an animal who has passed).

If you’re looking for ongoing support for your animal companion(s) then we’ll discuss your options at the end of the session.

Do you do remote sessions?

Yes! In fact, I do all of my sessions virtually via phone or Zoom (since well before the pandemic began). Because I’m connecting with your animal’s energy and soul, which are not bound by time or space, I can do this work from anywhere.

Are remote sessions as effective as in-person sessions?

Absolutely! And I’ve found that most animals actually prefer them.

What’s the difference between animal communication and animal Reiki, and which one should I book?

That’s not a short answer, so I dedicated a whole page to it: Animal Communication vs. Reiki for Animals: What's the Difference?

But I've tried to make it simple for people who haven't worked with me before: Your first session will always be a 60-minute customized private session.

I think my animal is sick. Can you make a diagnosis?

No, only a licensed veterinarian can do that. If you suspect that your animal is sick, I’ll recommend that you seek the care of a vet if you haven’t already.

However, both animal communication and Reiki can deeply support your companions while they’re undergoing veterinary care by helping you understand how they’re feeling and what their wishes are, creating the needed conditions for healing, and inviting more peace and ease to the situation. It all works beautifully together to help you provide your animal with holistic, compassionate care.

Why are you no longer offering 30-minute sessions for new clients?

I’ve found that 30 minutes is usually not enough time to cover everything. It also just makes it simpler for everyone.

What’s your refund and cancellation policy?

I’m glad you asked! You can read it here.

What's the meaning behind your logo?

The lovely bird on my logo is the resplendent quetzal, who has been such an important guide on my spiritual path and played a big part in uncovering my ability to communicate with animals.

The O not only represents my name, but the connections I help cultivate through my work, as well as the birth-life-death-rebirth cycle that we’re all constantly moving through.

The logo was designed by the wonderful November Wild.

Animal Communication FAQS

Can you communicate with animals who have died?

Yes. I do it often.

How long should I wait to book a session to communicate with my animal companion who has died?

I usually recommend waiting at least a couple of weeks to allow yourself to reflect and process some grief so you can open more fully to the experience and better retain what comes through.

But there’s no hard and fast rule, and in the end, it’s up to you. I trust you to decide whether or not you’re ready.

My companion animal died many years ago. Will you still be able to connect with them?

Most likely. I’ve successfully communicated with animals who have died 10 and even 20 years ago. But if for any reason I can’t connect with them I will be honest about it and let you know.

What are the benefits of an animal communication session?

Ultimately, these sessions can deepen your relationships with your animal companions and help you reach new levels of understanding and support—even after they’ve crossed the rainbow bridge.

If you currently live with animal companions, then a session can help you understand them better, find out more about what they need and want, better support their health and wellbeing, achieve more harmony in the household, and even trust your own intuition with them. Many people come to me for help around anxiety and behavioral issues, illness, end-of-life transitions, preparing for all kinds of changes, and so much more.

If your animal companion has passed, then a session can allow you to hear from them in spirit and even help you continue your relationship with them. You can find out their perspective on their passing, ask about their favorite memories with you, learn how they’d like to be remembered and honored, understand and know when they’re sending signs to you, and so much more.

Can you connect with more than one animal during a session?

I certainly can. I can also talk with animals who have died and animals who are still alive in one session.

Do my animals need to be with me during a communication session?

No, they don’t need to be next to you for me to be able to connect and talk with them. But they’re always more than welcome to join and say hello if they’re nearby.

Can you communicate with an animal who is still alive but no longer living with me?

I can—as long as they’re willing to connect in this way.

What can I expect during a typical animal communication session?

I do my best to facilitate a conversation between you and your animal companion(s) and to be a humble vessel for whatever they want to convey to you.

I may see faint images, words, or scenes in my mind’s eye; hear quiet music, words, or sounds in my head; feel a slight physical sensation or emotion; faintly taste or smell something; and sometimes, I just suddenly know something or receive full thoughts. I also may feel the energetic dynamics between the animal and others in the household or the energy of a situation.

I do this all by connecting with the animal’s energy and soul, which are not bound by the physical body, time, or space. That’s why I can do it remotely, without the animal being present, and also why I can also connect with an animal who has died.

How should I prepare for an animal communication session?

If possible, try to be somewhere without too much noise or distraction. And keep a notebook handy if you'd like to take notes. Other than that, all you need to do is try your best to remain open and curious.

Animal Reiki FAQs

What are the benefits of Reiki for animals?

Every Reiki experience can be different, but generally, it’s known to ease pain, calm nerves, and soothe the soul. When practiced with animals, it can be a safe, gentle, and non-invasive complement to veterinary care and provide them with compassionate support through illness or difficult times. It can also help make their end-of-life transitions more peaceful.

What can I expect during a typical animal Reiki session?

When the appointment time comes, I’ll communicate with your animal(s) to get their consent, and then I’ll channel Reiki energy to them remotely. I’ll keep the line of communication open in case they want to tell me anything.

Animals respond to Reiki in different ways. They may walk around like nothing is happening, lie down and relax, sleep—and sometimes they might make some strange noises. Sometimes Reiki can get things moving, if ya know what I mean, so if you have a dog, you may want to take them outside to eliminate afterwards. And you may want to put a pee pad under them if they have a history of incontinence.

After the session is done, I’ll follow up with any messages that may have come through from your animal either with a call or by email—it’s your choice.

Can you send Reiki to more than one animal during a session?

Yes, as long as they’re in the same household.

May I join my animal’s Reiki session?

Yes. In fact, I encourage doing so. It’s a unique offering I provide at no extra charge. You just need to let me know if you’d like to join so I can include you (I’ll ask you).

How should I prepare for an animal Reiki session?

It’s best if your animal companion is at home and relaxing (although there are some exceptions to that). Also, try to avoid booking sessions during mealtimes or playtimes. Other than that, you don’t need to do much to prepare.

If you’re joining the session, then just get comfortable—whatever that means to you—ahead of the session. You can cuddle or lie down with your companion animal(s) if that feels right for everybody, but it's not necessary for the session to be effective.
